Library & Media Center
The ACS Library and Media Center is the main information center for research and literary books that hosts over 23,500 volumes, 1,500 videos, 14 CD-Rom programs and powerful Databases.
A computer lab with 22 computers is available to students for research and class related uses during the library opening hours. Students can also access high speed internet as an additional resource for information.
The library is divided into two main areas; one serves the middle and high school students while elementary students can enjoy their own area that also includes a comfortable room for reading and story times. The library uses the Dewey Decimal classification system (DDS). It is a proprietary system of classification that organizes books on library shelves in a specific and repeatable order that makes it easy to find any book and return it to its proper place. The system is used in 200,000 libraries in at least 135 countries.
Keeping up with latest technology in automating library activities, the library also uses the Alexandria automation system. Alexandria efficiently manages modern libraries, freeing up administrators, technology coordinators, and librarians for more important tasks. Alexandria also brings special strengths to the K-12 market by promoting student achievement in ways unknown to other library management systems.
The library is also open during summer holidays, allowing students to access the books and media center to stay up to date in their readings.
