Equivalency Options | How to Obtain Equivalency | Frequently Asked Questions

Students intending to attend a Jordanian university or gain certain professional licenses in Jordan can obtain a certificate of Tawjihi equivalency in lieu of taking the national Tawjihi examination.

Equivalency Options

To obtain equivalency, students must complete one of the following examination options, in addition to the school’s requirements, by the time of their graduation:

 

Option 1: A combined total of seven advanced placement (AP) exams and/or SAT II exams with scores of at least 3 on each AP, and at least 450 on each SAT II.
Option 2: Five advanced placement (AP) exams, with scores of at least 3 on each 

Option 3: Seven SAT II exams, with a score of at least 450 on each exam.

Notes on Option 1-3:

To obtain equivalency in the Tawjihi Science Stream for options 1-3, students must take three SAT II science subjects and obtain a minimum score of 450 or three AP science subjects including Math SAT II level IIC or AP Calculus and obtain a minimum a score of 3 out of 5.

To calculate the Tawjihi equivalency GPA for students opting for these options, the Ministry of Education will combine 50 percent of the 12th grade GPA and 50 percent of the results on SAT II and/or AP exams. 

Option 4: Four AP exams only

Tawjihi Science Stream Equivalency:

Take AP Calculus or AP Physics or AP Chemistry or AP Biology in addition to   another scientific AP exam and obtain a minimum score of 3 out of 5.

Achieve a score of three or higher on any other two AP exams

Tawjihi Literary Stream Equivalency:

Take any four literary AP exams and obtain a minimum score of 3 out of 5 or Arabic (A-level or IB BS or B or Tawjihi level three or four, obtaining a minimum score of D in the A-level or 50% in the Tawjihi exam)

Option 5: Three AP Exams and Two SAT II Exams

Tawjihi Science Stream Equivalency:

Take AP Calculus or AP Physics or AP Chemistry or AP Biology in addition to another scientific AP exam and obtain a minimum score of 3 out of 5.

Achieve a score of three or higher on any other AP exam.

Take any two SAT II exams available and obtain a minimum score of 450.
 

Tawjihi Literary Stream Equivalency:

Take any three literary AP exams and obtain a minimum score of 3 out of 5 or Arabic (A-level or IB BS or B or Tawjihi level three or four, obtaining a minimum score of D in the A-level or 50% in the Tawjihi Exam).

Take any two SAT II exams available and obtain a minimum score of 450.

Option 6: Two AP Exams and Four SAT II Exams

Tawjihi Science Stream Equivalency:

Take AP Calculus or AP Physics or AP Chemistry or AP Biology in addition to another scientific AP exam and obtain a minimum score of 3 out of 5

Take any four SAT II exams available and obtain a minimum score of 450

Tawjihi Literary Stream Equivalency:

Take any two literary AP Exam and obtain a minimum score of 3 out of 5 or   Arabic (A-level or IB BS or B or Tawjihi level three or four, obtaining a minimum score of D in the A-level or 50% in the Tawjihi exam)

Take any four SAT II exams available and obtain a minimum score of 450

Notes on Option 4-6:

To calculate the Tawjihi equivalency GPA for students opting for these options, the Ministry of Education will count the results on the SAT II and/or AP exams only.

Students cannot repeat the same subject exams between AP exams and SAT II exams.

How to Obtain Tawjihi Equivalency

1.  Collect your official records from the school’s registrar. These records should include: 

  • An official sealed copy of your transcripts.
  • A copy of your High School Diploma.
  • Your Graduation Certificate.
  • Current School Profile.
  • Official SAT score report for all the taken exams. 

2.  Validate all your school records from AMIDEAST Jordan.
